How we work
We are an independent publication covering robotic lawn mowers for the United States and Canada. No manufacturer owns, sponsors, or reviews our content before publication.
Our method is transparent synthesis: we aggregate manufacturer specifications (always labeled as claims), retailer pricing across official channels, and — most importantly — documented owner experience at scale: complaint patterns from Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, ConsumerAffairs, and the owner communities on Reddit (r/automower and brand subreddits). When a mower's marketing says "1 acre" and a hundred owners say "1 acre needed two charges," we print the second thing.
We do not claim hands-on laboratory testing, and we won't pretend otherwise — sites that test hardware in a yard (Wirecutter, PCMag, Consumer Reports) do valuable work we happily point to. What we add is the layer they don't: cross-brand honesty about failure patterns, total cost of ownership, and matching navigation technology to your actual yard.
How the site makes money
Some outbound links may become affiliate links, meaning a retailer may pay us a commission if you buy — at no cost to you. Two rules keep that honest: commissions never reorder a recommendation, and we disclose the relationship on every page. We publish no sponsored posts and accept no payment for placement.
Why we cover the US and Canada together
The physics of a robot mower — navigation technology, coverage ratings, slope grades — is identical on both sides of the border, but almost everything written about these machines assumes an American buyer. Canadian availability runs through different channels, prices land differently in CAD, and a May-to-October season with mandatory winter battery storage changes the ownership calendar. Rather than bolt a currency converter onto US advice, we maintain a dedicated Canada guide and flag Canadian differences inside every comparison where they matter.
What we don't do
No sponsored rankings, no pay-for-placement, no "exclusive discount codes" that are really tracking links in costume, and no pretending a spec sheet is a test result. We also don't publish content about products we can't verify exist at retail — if a mower appears in our tables, it was purchasable through an official channel when the page was last updated.
Corrections
Prices and models in this category change monthly. If you find something outdated or wrong, we want to know — every page shows its last update date, and reader corrections get priority over new content. The fastest-moving facts on this site are street prices and 4G subscription policies; if either looks stale on a page you're reading, assume the direction of drift is downward for prices and toward more subscriptions for connectivity, and check the retailer before buying.
